Frijoles Refritos

Refried Beans


  • 1/2 cup Country Crock® Spread
  • 1/2 medium white onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 cans (15.5 oz. ea.) pink beans [or black beans] , rinsed and drained
  • 4 ounces queso fresco cheese, cut into thin strips
  • Tortilla chips


  1. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, melt 1/4 cup Country Crock® Spread over medium-high heat and cook onion, stirring frequently, 3 minutes or until tender. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute. Add beans and cook, mashing beans with a potato masher or back of fork, until beans are almost mashed. Add remaining 1/4 cup Spread and continue cooking and mashing until mixture is smooth. To serve, spoon beans onto serving platter and top with queso fresco. Garnish with chips. TIP: For creamier beans, add additional Country Crock® Spread!
