Ingredients

  • 4 cups penne pasta
  • 4 Italian sausages
  • 3 tablespoons Country Crock® Original Spread Original Spread
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 1/2 cups good-quality store bought marinara sauce
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan, grated
  • 1 bunch basil, for garnishing (1 teaspoon dried basil works too!)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and boil the pasta around 3 minutes less than advised on the package instructions.
  3. Heat a large skillet to medium - high heat and pan fry the sausages until cooked to internal temp of 160°F. Remove the sausage from the pan and slice into 1 inch thick coins. Wipe out your pan.
  4. Add 2 ½ tablespoons of Country Crock® Original Spread chopped garlic, salt and pepper, and veggies to the pan. Sauté for about two minutes, then return the sliced sausage back to the pan and allow to cook for another minute.
  5. Add the Marinara sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Drain the pasta and add to the sauce, mix until it's completely coated. Transfer the pasta to an ovenproof baking dish and top with mozzarella and parmesan.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until the mozzarella is melted and bubbling. Garnish with basil.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

  • Pantry spices: dried basil, salt and pepper
